glut bitmap charcters

I''m not sure exactly how you are implementing your font, but if you are using glRasterPos3*(...) and glBitmap(...) to display your font (the way I learned it), you must change the color before calling glRasterPos3*(...). Any color changes made after the call to glRasterPos3*(...) will be ignored for the bitmap rendering, but will be in effect for future geometric rendering.
