Vertex Buffer Allocation Cost [SlimDX]

Hi, I allocate and dispose several small vertex buffers per second. Every vertex buffer contains 10-100kb of data. It's used for particle systems. Is this allocation and freeing of vertex buffers expensive? Would it make sense to re-use vertex buffers?

Allocation is going to be very costly, it's never something you want to do mid-frame. You should re-use a vertex buffer if you can.
