Hi all, I need some references under the following issue: . I'm looking for an open source 3D engine capable of being incorporate on an existing framework based on Qt. For my research I found the following ones: . http://www.openscenegraph.org/projects/osg . http://www.panda3d.org/ . http://www.horde3d.org/ . http://www.crystalspace3d.org/main/Main_Page . http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/ . http://unity3d.com/ Which one is more suitable for my needs? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use Irrlicht (without QT), but from what I read from the official Irrlicht forum it seems to work quite well. Apart from that it's a well documented, easy to use engine (imho).

But, how about its integration in Virtual Realities applications? It has already support for artificial intelligence like behavior trees, path finding, neural networks and genetic algorithms?

Thanks for your reply.

You haven't told us what your needs are, apart from QT integration. All of the above (except Unity3D) should integrate with QT, some albeit with more work than others. If you want further advice on choosing, you need to specify exactly what features you are looking for in a 3D engine.

Note that of the engines you listed, only Unity3D (and to a lesser extent Crystal Space) are actually 'game engines'. All the rest are graphics engines only, and you will need to provide Entity management, Physics, AI, etc. yourself.

You are right.

I'm looking for a good scene graph and resource management, post-processing rendering pipeline, good integration with Blender 3D, good integration with real-time shaders, good GUI elements, good font manipulation and rendering, and good node picking.

What do you think? Which are your suggestions?

Thanks.

Unity taps pretty much all of those bases, as does the UDK.

CrystalSpace or the Blender game engine tap most, though distinctly less user friendly.

Ogre or Horde perfectly good for the graphics end of things, but as mentioned, you would need to use a 3rd-party GUI library (CEGUI works well with both).
