Windows messages without deadline

I know that the windows message queue cannot be relied on to deliver custom messages on a "deadline", but what about messages that do not depend on time? I have this right after PeekMessage() says I can work on my frame.
// Propagate custom messages.
while (!mEvents.empty())
{
	evt& m = mEvents.front();

	runEvent( m.msg, m.wParam, m.lParam );

	mEvents.pop_front();
}
That loop feels redundant. It runs at the beginning of every frame update, and all events start at WM_USER and go through before the time critical section of code anyway. Is there any other reason I don't want to use the Windows message procedure if the time they get there is not an issue?
