I'm writing a game that is meant to work as an applet. I'm using some Graphics2D/BufferStrategy/Canvas stuff to get hardware support for rendering. I've noticed that under Windows I automatically get it, both when application runs as applet or a separate application. But when I run to on Linux I have software rendering (*very* poor...). To force Java to use OGL as underlying rendering engine I need to pass such Virtual Machine Options: -Dsun.java2d.opengl=True Can I somehow inform Java VM to do that for applet?

It looks like you can do this...

<APPLET archive="my_applet.jar" code="MyApplet" width="300" height="300"> <PARAM name="java_arguments" value="-Dsun.java2d.opengl=true"> </APPLET>

Just make sure you use "true". I am not sure a capital "T" in "True" will work!!!

Hope that helps,
