I am making a game in which the player has to avoid some obstacles, I have the obstacles scrolling and the player is free to move aswell. How would I detect collision/interaction between the 2 sets of objects? I am using classes to store the vectors of each object

On the SFML Wiki there is a sample collision detection class you can make use of here.

It covers circle, bounding box and pixel perfect tests. However if you don't want to use that if you provide more specific information about what shapes the objects are and how perfect you want the collision calculations to be someone (possibly me) should be able to assist further.
