Discussion : Display lists for Quake 3?

The BSP in quake 3 is broken into segments known as leafs. On average each leaf would be composed of ~ 200 tris, and in a map there is probably upwards of 500 leafs. To speed up the rendering is there enough memorey availble to opengl to create a display list for every leaf? The Engine has of course to store textures as well in graphics card''s memorey.
