as you can see. the game is in an early level. but I wont to know what you think.
the game was made for myself to learn and try out new things. I may realese it if it will be worth it.
oh, and if someone know of a good sound effect site for scary games. Id like to see it.
Insanity - a top down horror
Hello!
i started working on a top down horror game using XNA. I was trying to integrate a Tile Editor with the game. and my latest system is a Linked Room System.
here is a video I uploaded:

The lighting looks quick. There's not really a lot else to say at this stage.
I agree, the lighting is cool. Did you use an opacity map for the effect?
You might wanna smooth out the transitions. Use a fade-in, or maybe code it so that you can already see the other map in 50% opacity.

I used a 50% alpha for the light texture. And I created the shadow just by changing the color of a tile with the distance from the light source.
the game may look bad, but I am just a beginer so I think it is alright.
by the way, I am just 14 years old. If it matters.

Nobody said your game was bad, in fact you got constructive critism which you can build on. Also, if you're 14 and you like making games I suggest you take a look at game maker first, instead of starting with the more difficult XNA. Unless you already got extensive programming experience, of course.
It looks like a good start. It would be neat if you had the light look like a flashlight instead of a spotlight, probably make the game scarier once there are actually monsters in there. And you're doing fine with C# and XNA.

I only just realized that when I said the lighting looks quick, that the comment could be interpreted to mean that the lighting looked like it was implemented quickly. I mean that it seems to perform quickly, so that was a compliment.
And if it makes you feel any better, at 14, I was writing text-based games in BASIC. Granted, at that point I had an Atari 800, and the only programming reference I could get my hands on was the BASIC manual that shipped with the machine. *sigh* Oh how I wish the internet had existed when I was growing up.
