trueSpace and powerRender
I just downloaded the trial version of PR, and I''m pretty impressed so far.
I looked at the samples and played around a bit, and everything works pretty fine except when I try to use my own 3D models. I''m using trueSpace 4, which can save objects as 3DS files, however, when I load my objects into a PR program, they don''t show up at all.
One of the things I tried was to take the DirectionalLight sample, and to replace the line where it calls LoadPro() to load the cube.pro model by a call to Load3DS() to load my own model. When running the program, the call to Load3DS() was successful, but PR did not display my object. I tried various values for the scaling factor parameter for the Load3DS() call, but to no avail.
Is anybody using trueSpace with PR, and can help me? Or maybe somebody has a general idea what could be wrong? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks, and sorry about the newbie question
Did you try opeining the .3ds in proEdit?
You should be able to load it into ProEdit and create a .pro file from there.

I tried to load my objects into proEdit first, and played around a bit. I saved them as PRO files, and - tada - it works fine now. I don''t know why it doesn''t work when saving out of trueSpace directly, maybe it screws up the rendering methods for the materials or something. Anyway, thanks for the great tip, ManFriday!
