Convert 3DS animations to DirectX format

Ok, I have this problem which I can''t seem to solve. When I make my animations in 3DS Max, I use bones and IK. A problem appears when I export the animation to directx format (.X). The animation doesn''t export, just the first frame in the motion. Can someone help me solve this one, or is the .x format limited to meshanimations with moved polygons? thanx.
