DX8 Skinned Meshes and Bones tutorials / articles?

I''m looking for information about DirectX 8''s skinned meshes and bones. So far I haven''t found anything other than the sample that comes with the SDK. I''m still working on getting the loading from an x file hammered out, but it looks like the sample doesn''t even go into creating and using your own bones transformations, it just uses what''s in the x file. At this point I''d really appreciate any articles, samples, tutorials or books that anyone might be able to suggest. Thanks, Jon
