To draw a line...

    
glBegin(GL_LINES);
glVertex3f(x1, y1, z1);
glVertex3f(x2, y2, z2);
glEnd();

For points...


glBegin(GL_POINTS);
glVertex3f(x, y, z);
glEnd();


Remember that if you don't call glTranslate*(), the surface of your monitor is z = 0, and only things with negative z-components will display (as points z >= 0 are virtual points).
