Texture Mapping and Bitmapped Fonts?

I''ve been trying to splice code from the tutorials together. I have been able to draw a logo as a texture on to a quad (just plain old 2D quad). However, I also want to include bitmapped text below it. When I use the code for textures and bitmapped fonts together (mainly with InitGL) either only the texture goes through or neither show. The code is at http://www.section72.net/opengl/test.cpp the texture.bmp is also in the same location.
