Is there any way to put Microsofts newest api Direct2D into full screen mode like directdraw or direct3d9? I haven't found a way yet, even after looking through the DX sdk documentation.

Direct2D doesn't own or control the window that you're displaying in. That is done either through a swap chain or by using the standard windows APIs. Direct2D just draws to a rendertarget.

Simply create a directx application and use a shared rendertarget in which you draw with direct2d. May not be the best performance, but should work...

So use Direct3D10 to create the full screen display, then use direct2d to create a rendartarget?

Yes, use Direct3D10 for full screen display and render into it with Direct2D. Look up the samples to find out how to share the rendertarget...
