Hi guys,

Im trying to create a buffer for stream output. But if I set the size to more than 130Mb it fails to create it with E_OUTOFMEMORY error. I have plenty of memory left on my system, why I can't create the buffer? Is this a limit? Am I able to increase it?

Even if you have that much memory available, you may not have that much contiguous memory available. And even then there's bound to be certain alignment and padding requirements since that buffer is an output for the GPU.

I think it is not due to the GPU, because it is returning me an error when I do this:
V_RETURN(pd3dDevice->CreateBuffer(&bufferDesc,NULL,&g_pStreamOutVB));

At this part I am not binding it to the gpu yet am I?

If there is not other way around I would like some suggestions to my problem.

I'm getting the stream output to count how many triangles the GPU generated in the tesselation...

Well when I was writing this I searched for a query of how many times the geometry shader was invocated. I found it, so I dont need the output stream stuff.

Thanks a lot guys my problem is solved.

d3d10/11 is limited size of any buffer to 128 mb
That.

Although if one is pedantic one should say that this is a minimum resource limit, which means it could in theory be larger, too. Still, that's the likely reason.
