Audio Compression

I have been investigating compressing audio for in-game voip. I'm looking for a simple library, but I I've looked at Speex, FLAC and a few others. FLAC doesn't have any good coding examples.

I can work with speex, but it just does not want to actually encode/decode anything. I can send any data to the encoder and I will get back the same exact garbage regardless of input.

Anyone have some tips on libraries they have used. Speex is nice and simple, just not working and there is no forum for it.

Want to post your code for Speex, and we could have a look?
why would you want to use flac for voice ?
flac is good for lossless, but voice is something that can and should be compressed a lot so it doesnt take up too much bandwidth while still sounding good.
I haven't tried any library for that purpose, but there are a few alternatives to speex, one is hawkvoice:
