Samping/downsampling a Stencil buffer using D3D10

Hi all,

I used stencil to store multiple masks (value from 0-255). And for an effect I wanted to downsample a depth-stencil buffer to a smaller resolution one and the stencil information have to be downsampled as well, so that I can use stencil testing on downsampled buffer. The problem is I cannot find any function that can do so.

What is the best way to downsample a stencil buffer?
I can only think of redrawing the whole stencil again in the downsampled buffer.
