I've tried opening the VC6 project file included with GLEW but it fails horribly at converting, yielding 0 projects in the solution. Anyone have any experience compiling/using GLEW with visual studio 2010?

What I mostly do:
1. Open the project/solution in Visual studio 2008 and convert it
2. Then open the resulting project/solution in Visual studio 2010

I can't find anything else on the internet about this

I really don't want to download a previous express-edition just to convert this one project. Could I build it from scratch (what kind of settings you think... multi-threaded dll?)

Well, you're going to encounter this more often if you download projects. A lot are only VC6. And I haven't found a single VC6 project that converted correctly directly to 2010.

Next to that there are some packages that are targeted to 2008 with plugins and additional functionality.

So it is very good to have 2 versions of versions of visual C++ express installed.
