Hello gamedev,
I installed the newest SDK on my PC, but I miss the DirectX Viewer utility. I skimmed through the release notes to see if it has been deprecated. Nothing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the DirectX viewer is still not there.

SOLVED:
1. --- Install the August 2009 SDK for the DirectX Viewer. ---
2. --- Download this: http://www.filefront.com/17257131/DxViewer.zip, try to run the .exe. ---

I can't find it in June 2010 SDK either.

DX10/11 no longer directly supports .x mesh format, I guess that's why the viewer is missing in the latest SDK?

It could be. I don't see any obvious release notes to that effect either, but it's quite possible I could have copied the DXViewer.exe I have in my directory from a previous version of the SDK for some reason and then forgot about it.

There you go:

http://www.filefront.com/17257131/DxViewer.zip

Includes: DXViewer.exe + [...]\Utilities\Source\DxViewer
