Is there a way to create a progressive mesh (LPD3DXPMESH) from a standard mesh (LPD3DXMESH) via cloning or something? I'm guessing it's not going to be that easy. The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to generate a very low poly version of the original mesh for occlusion tests. I would hate to manually create low poly versions of every mesh.

First, I've done it myself (except through the SDK examples).

Second, this is DX 9.0c.

D3DXGeneratePMesh generates a LPD3DXPMESH from a LPD3DXMESH.

You may also want to look at D3DXSimplifyMesh.

Yeah, I just realized this. I have the DirectX SDK (June 2010) which excluded the progressive mesh sample so I downloaded a later version. Thanks for the reply!
