Textures

I'm working on learning textures, and i believe i can do it by using triangles to create objects, that way i have all the vertices i need to apply the texture. However, is there a function to get the vertices of a Direct3D primitive like a box or sphere in order to apply a texture to it? or if not how would it be done? I have looked through the directx help file and haven't really found a function, but maybe i missed it somewhere.

The usual way is to create the vertices yourself and to give each one a texture coordinate.

I wrote a tutorial which includes filling a vertex buffer with the vertices for a cube, and rendering it with a texture.
