Player control mechanism

I'm currently writing a 3D isometric game in C/C++ / Direct3D and am wanting to implement the following control mechanism:

- The player is able to turn the game character by using the movement of the mouse

- The player is able to use the keyboard to move in the direction the game character is facing

- The left mouse button can be used to for example punch

Basically a game character under both keyboard and mouse control.

Can anyone give me any advice / tutorial links for doing this at all?

Any help appreciated.
