I read Boer's paper again and again but don't think there's any mention about how the normals are resolved whenthe vertices are skipped at each LOD.

It appear that most other papers on terrain also never address the issue about normal (re)calculation.

Is it because nobody uses "real lighting" at runtime and simply use a precalculated "lighted texture" to overlay? It seems like this is the technique in Google Earth?

Thanks in advance for enlighting.

.. hate to feel like a noob asking about geomimaps after 10 years of its existence... but hey, that's what i am.
