Hello folks,

what about original weapon names? May I use them in a game and on a website without paying fees or getting a permission to do so?

Weapon names, like most other product names in the real world, are registered/trademarks of their owner corporations (in general, exceptions apply. IANALBMI).

This is why counterstrike had to change the names of its weapons.

Either make up names for your weapons, or contact the appropriate companies and get permission to use the names.

A lot of these things are covered on Mona's Blog. Do a little research and spare yourself a lot of pain.

You can use names like .45 Pistol, .50 Sniper, .308 Rifle, .357 Revolver, etc. You just can't say "Desert Eagle" or "M16".
