bare-bones cross platform library?

Would be nice to have a WinXP/Vista/OSX library that doesn't manage the order packets are received for me. Can anyone recommend a library that I can start sending packets with as little fuss as possible? I am programming for a game but the game specific libraries seem to have more structure than I'd prefer.

All post-C/C++ languages come with one-line sockets built into standard library. Usually UDPSocket or UDPClient or such.
