Map with multiple floors

Hey there!

I was wondering how could you make a map with more than one floor (heightmap)? I mean in term of collision, how can I know where to place my player if there is a collision for exemple if it collides with a triangle? Also, to increase rendering speed, is there a way to know with which object(s) I need to check for collision?
