Can Physx used in 2D game?

I want write a 2D game demo. I want to use a Physical Engine.
I want to know Physx can used in 2D game? Is there a commercial 2d game use 3D physical engine?

I would agree with Don...Box2D is worth looking at, since it is built for 2D and is extremely nice. But, to answer your other question, yes, PhysX can be used for 2D physics. It is non-optimal, since as far as I know you'd have to add joint constraints to all your bodies to keep them aligned/oriented with the 2D plane. That would make it more expensive to run. Box2D would work out better, if all you are doing is rigid body dynamics.
