[java] JOGL and Symbol fonts

The JOGL OpenGL wrapper contains a class called TextRenderer which is used for rendering text. We now want to output characters in the wingdings font. The problem is that we only get rectangles on the screen. We suppose that is because the wingdings font use the Symbol character set. Have anyone managed to properly display the wingdings font or another font with the Symbols character set with the TextRenderer ?
