Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 looks like a pretty awesome mmorpg. I think if arenanet takes their time and does it write, it could beat out wow. Anyone else think much about gw2?
I was a Guild Wars 1 fan so I've been keeping an eye on it.
I don't expect it to be "groundbreaking" but if I find the want to play something before Diablo 3 then I might buy it.

I've played it.
The game is terrible.
Don't buy it, you're just wasting your money.
I'm going to murder jpetrie, skin him, and wear his skin to his work. Then I'll play GW2 until they figure out that I'm not him. At which point I'll hold them all hostage until they finish the game. I still haven't worked out how I'm going to fit into his skin though.. he is kind of quite a bit shorter than me....
For those too stupid to figure it out, I'm joking on all accounts. At least, up to a point. If I have to wait till 2012 to play it, Josh might need to start keeping a bodyguard around.

Neat. I'm actually looking forward to giving it a shot. I played and enjoyed Fury quite a while back despite its flaws (until it died), and I enjoyed Guild Wars, but it felt a little too slow paced (with only 8 abilities at a time I felt a little too constrained, I could do with 10 and feel better) and I couldn't get into it.
Recently been playing Aion which has faster paced PvP, but also lacks any form of arena based combat. World PvP kind of sucks (never fair, always either catching someone offguard or outnumbering them). Also, lots of PvE mindless grinding, not that fun.
So I've been looking forward to giving Guild Wars 2 a try.
I play Guild Wars a fair bit (Feel free to add "Cyss The Moist" to your friends list if you like), and I'm definitely looking forwards to GW2.
I'm also one of the sad individuals who bought Aion just for the shiney /aion emote in Guild Wars, I've not actually installed Aion since I bought it...

Here's a hint:
- Titles that require weeks/months/years of active playtime are not fun. Nor are titles that require 10,000 mouse clicks. C'mon...
When that was added I went to WoW for hard-core raiding. It was seriously more casual compared to that.

Guild Wars PvP allowed you to spawn an instantly top-level character. PvE is for people who like wasting time, and there is a demographic there which is targeted. Some people like clicking 10,000 times to get a title on a game. It isn't "for" me, I don't understand it, but there are people who enjoy that.
I never got too deep into Guild Wars PvP, so maybe there were some buffs/bonuses that could only be gathered by PvE, but it didn't seem to be the case with my limited experience with it.

You're missing the point of GW PvE really. Chasing title and achievement grind is only one part of it. You want the drunkard achievement, or the crap looking FoW armor, then by all means... I myself can't be bothered. Not grinding for the HoM achievements.
The second part is playing with friends, evolving a character, doing a dungeon, helping out with missions, challenges, special events, hard mode, exploration, ect...
It's no more different than playing any other game really. GW has an element of grind in it, but you don't always have to. Had lots of good memories playing with guildies or even PUGs on Urgoz, FoW, S.F., The Deep.
Not so keen on PvP, it's elitist, and I'd rather play TF2. And also I play a monk, so basically a punching bag. Quite liked Faction Wars though.
GW is a MMORPG-lite, instanced, no monthly fees, so no commitment and obligation for endlessly grinding XPs and whatnot. I really like the mechanics of it.
I still play here and there, when a guildie needs help with some hard mode mission, or we get back together for a HM dungeon.
I'm quite looking forward to GW2, and get back with the old guild.
