Hi,

I want to send messages (strings) from C# Winform to a C++ Application running in Linux and return also. How we can use Sockets for this purposes ? Or WCF is good for this ?

Because, we need to have a common data type to be send across. How it will be possible from C# application to a C++ Application in Linux ?

I tried to use the socket. But when we call the Socket.Connect from client, how we can send a string along with it (like ip address and name of the user) ?

How we can keep the connection opened for a long time ?

Please help me.

Thanks in advance....

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I did not use the c++ code. before that I used c# code in the server side for checking how it is working. I created 2 solutions. 1 is Client and other is server in the same machine. In the client, I used a winform and a button. As I am very new to this, I refered the below site:
http://csharp.net-informations.com/communications/csharp-client-socket.htm

But I don't how to use it to call c++ method using socket programming ?

Thanks very much,
