Learning Touch Typing, Any Tips?

Hi!

I'm trying to learn how to touch type. I can type without looking at the keyboard, but not the way one is supposed to do it. I think I've reached the maximum speed possible with my inferior way of typing.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if you guys have any tips. What is the best way to learn? Should I try to touch type always (painful)? Or is it enough with a few practice sessions a day? How long will it take to get decent? Right now, if I try to type the way one is supposed to do it, it is frustratingly slow. I think I need an addictive touch typing game or something. If you have any favourites, let me know.

Just thought about something: Right now, I feel, when I try to touch type the proper way, that it is so slow that it drags my thinking down with it. I can't express myself, because it takes so long to edit the text. Maybe I can become better at thinking and expressing myself when typing once I learn to touch type. :)

I learned typing in school. From a teacher. The way I got good at it is "practice, practice, practice."

Oh and also i will just add. Just type the way you usually do and practice touch typing a bit each day. Then when your speed becomes fast enough so that it won't drive you insane touch typing, you can drop your other way of typing.
