Greetings,
I'm a voice-actor and writer with experience doing both in video games. I have a contact who's a producer at a major developer that I've worked with in the past.
I have an idea for a video game that I'd like to throw his way but want to actually give him a professional pitch for the idea. I want to present it to him professionally and in the same manner that is typical in the business. The only problem is that I don't know how to pitch an idea in the video game development world.
My question is: How do I pitch an idea for a game to a video game producer?
Thanks for your help and/or input.

You don't!
You don't pitch your game idea to a producer, not if he works for a game company. You call the company, ask for the submissions manager (may also be called New Business, or Business Development), and inquire about the submissions process. If they're a developer, then there's little they can do with your idea but pitch it to a publisher. It's publishers who normally accept submissions (and many of them don't).
I describe this in full in FAQ 21 - http://www.sloperama.com/advice/lesson21.htm
You'll put the producer in an awkward legal situation if you tell him your game idea without going through the proper process.
Moved to The Business, by the way.

Interesting. Wow. Not at all what I was expecting. Thanks Tom. I'll read the lesson link you posted.
Thanks again for the education.
