SDL_Mixer supports mp3s, if they are loaded from the harddrive. I have an asset management system that loads graphics, sounds, etc. from a compressed archive file but SDL_Mixer doesn't seem to support loading an mp3 from memory the way it supports loading other sound formats. Am I forced to keep my songs in non-mp3 format as a result?

I recognize that I could write the mp3 to a temp file on the harddrive when it is loaded from the archive file, or just keep them stored outside the archive.

Any thoughts or suggestions before I lay this issue to rest ?
