Problem with hierarchy in 3ds max

I have an object wich is at the end of a hierarchy chain, when i rotate it, it deformates like instead of following a circle for the rotation it were following a long ellipse.

Does anyone know what can be causing this and how to solve it?

Have you applied any transformations to the pivots of any parent objects? That may cause it to transform in an odd way. Try to reset the pivots of the object and its parents.

Translations and rotations shouldn't cause a problem; I meant more along the lines of applying a scaling transform to a pivot along a direction that's not aligned with any vector in its basis.

Check your pivots and see if all the three direction vectors are orthogonal to one another (This involves clicking the "Affect Pivot Only" button in the Hierarchy tab). If that's an issue, you can make them orthogonal by resetting the scale by clicking the "Scale" button in the Adjust Transform section.
