I'm writing my first attempt at an XNA breakout-style game where the ball bounces off the paddle and breaks the blocks. The problem I am having is with the collision detection and response - I've implemented asimple bounding box algorithm which works "ok" but I would like something more professional.

I have been looking at this article but have had no luck implementing it in 2D with rectangles instead of triangles. I'm not that stong at maths so if someone could please indicate how I would get this working with "breakout physics" I would very very much appreciate it.
