Being pretty new to Direct X this may be a dumb question. I am working on a project and need to get my 8 bit BMP images to display on a 16-bit screen. The posts I have seen on here all seem to deal with going from 24bit to 16bit. My program is running great in 8 bit mode, but I''m afraid that my color choices are EXTREMELY limited. The idea is that I can have multiple images in 256 colors (hence a smaller storage size), yet be able to display them all at the same time even though they each have different palettes. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I wouldn''t try to use 8bit directly but you can load them to a 16bit DDraw surface and they are automatically converted.

I thought it might be something simple. I did try what you mentioned earlier, and removed all references to setting the palette. Unfortunately, it ended up hosing on me. I was probably close... I''ll have to go through my code some more and see what I missed since I was on the right track.
