The subject says all. I am making a heightmap based terrain engine and it uses the alpha of the image for the heights. I tried to use Paint Shop Pro 5.0 but I can''t get it to add the alpha values. It will only do RGB. So how can I create RGBA uncompressed TGAs? Thanks for any help you can give.

In Paint Shop you have to use selections to create your alpha channels.

First use the selection tool to pick your alpha''d areas, use shift + left click to capture more than one selection. When those are done go up to the Selections menu and click "Invert Selection". Now that you have the alpha selection go up to Selections again and click on "Save To Alpha Channel". The default name it chooses is fine.

You can save multiple alpha channels as seperate images or leave them in the tga file. You get used to it very quickly and as long as you have a functional RGBA loader you''re good to go.

I still can''t get it to work. In Paint Shop Pro 5 I try using selections and no matter what I do I can''t get the alpha to do anything but be completely black.
