Hi all, I'm a newbie with oracle (and not much db experience either) and have the following error when trying to issue set autotrace on:

SP2-0618: Cannot find the Session Identifier. Check PLUSTRACE role is enabled
SP2-0611: Error enabling STATISTICS report

I've already created the PLAN_TABLE, and have the PLUSTRACE role:

GRANTED_ROLE
------------------------------
CONNECT
PLUSTRACE
RESOURCE

and if I execute select * from role_tab_privs:

ROLE OWNER TABLE_NAME COLUMN_NAME PRIVILEGE GRANTABLE
------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- ---------
PLUSTRACE SYS V_$SESSION SELECT NO
PLUSTRACE SYS V_$SESSTAT SELECT NO
PLUSTRACE SYS V_$STATNAME SELECT NO

As far as I can tell, everothing is ok (unless Grantable should be true). Anyone can spot the problem?

Thank you!

Ok, I have most probably solved it: the sqlplus version I was using did not match the oracle server version I was connecting to, and apparently newer sqlplus clients require access to v$mystat in order for autotrace to work. I asked the dba to grant that privilege to role plustrace and now it works.
