Impulse on two objects (cars)

Currently I am looking to implement some form of impulse on two objects, the impulse does not need to be accurate.

I am just wondering if anyone can offer advice on how I would go about doing this. I know that I need to find a direction in which to apply the impulse (from the point of intersection of the two OBB's I presume?).

Currently I am not storing mass for any of the vehicles, but this is very easy to do.

I should probably mention that this is in 3D.

Edit:

Ignoring this entirely, I currently have the basic idea of what I want to implement but my problem now is actually finding the type of collision (who hit who).
