Stupid question i know but i gota ask it

Ok, im starting to program in open GL, i got most of the tutorials, i looked the the game tutorial with the animation and such with the space alien and other stuff. Well i would like to make my own classes and such, so to more or less import a .3ds file, i know i coudl use milkshape to convert and take the code from the tutorial, but i want to make my own to import striaght .3ds, is there any good books out there that could help me. I would like to do it myself, but i will probably end up taking the tutorial code, I figured id ask though. -THACO
