I have seen a lot of post in reference to this book, is it that good and if so what does it cover?

it teaches basics of 2d game prog as well as making a complete game, and some of 3d(not a lot) the 3d part it says will come with volume 2. if your starting game prog, its a pretty good steping stone into it.
