Can anyone tell me if allegro is worth using for graphics? I am using a DJGPP compiler I have MS VC++, but I really hate DX and I heard that OGL was strictly 3d all I want to make is a 2d side scroller please help Sage that which does not kill me makes me stronger

Whats with SDL? I haven't used OpenGL, but i guess that its much like D3D.

...why don''t you want use DirectDraw? ...it''s not so bad! ...and OGL - My team''s working on a 2D paralax scrolling adventure and our engine is using OGL. ..actually, we use AllegroGL.

I really like Allegro over DirecX... it has an *very* simple programming interface since it''s a game programming library, all you''ll need is there... but the 3D part still sucks, so for a 2D game Allegro is (IMHO) the best thing to work on (in an interface point of view), but if you''re working on a 3D game... well... OGL... or D3D.

How ever... many peaople has different point of views about the same thing, so if you want to be shure about what is the best... JUST TRY THEM!
