directx7 or directx8???
Does an 2d game programmed in directx8 need an 3d card, unlike directx7 (=>directdraw) wich only need a 2d graphic card?

My GF just got a computer from her work which is brand new.
A 800 mhz (IBM) with built in gfxcard and soundcard. It does not do 3D in hardware.
Sure all hardcore gamers have cards which can do it. But it all depends on your target consumers.
