ddraw n d3d

Can you have ddraw and d3d run in the same program. I''m not quite sure how to word this... but can directdraw, perhaps, lay on top of direct3d? =) Thanks, Andy

Yes and no...

Even in preDX8 days, it was strongly recommended that, if you are using D3D, you stay in D3D. This was because certain calls would force the device to flush and it was generally bad for performance.

Adding 2D functionality to a 3D program can be VERY easy. Check out the article on this site that talks about 2D in DirectX8.

It should be very easy, give good performance, etc...
