How to write games in C++ from scratch: The Absolute Beginner's version

Knee-jerk reaction: Don't.

As to your article, what you're writing is basically C.

My only suggestion: Change the title and contents to "How to write games in C". You use #define instead of cost, include only C libraries, and you use globals with no variable passing, which is allowed in C++ but not generally recommended. I can't find one C++ line in your example program.
