DDraw Overdrawing Window

For some reason my direct draw window is overwriteing my desktop. Is there some way to keep it contained and make sure it doesn''t overwrite other programs?

Yes, there is when you set the cooperation level, you have to make sure you aren''t telling DirectDraw to go fullscreen or something. How much of the desktop is being drawn over? If its the whole thing then you have to change a flag in the SetCooperativeLevel() call in your Init code. if its only a portion of the desktop in your (windowed?) app, then you may have to change your surface sizes or something. Hope this helps.
