I have done a little 2D engine in DX6.1. I tried to build it with DX8.0 and it gave an error. DSBCAPS_CTRLDEFAULT was undefined. I searched the entire DX8SDK directory for it and it was not defined anywhere. (should be located in DSOUND.H) Whats going on ? I thought newer version of DirectX was suppossed to be backwards compatible...

Well I sort of solved the problem.

I just copied the dsound.h and dsound.lib from dx6.1 to the new dx8.0 directory overwriting the newer files.

Now it works..
