I am getting the following error.
[font="Consolas"][size="1"][font="Consolas"][size="1"]>c:\users\phil\desktop\winmain.cpp(9): error C2373: 'D3DXCreateSprite' : redefinition; different type modifiers

1> c:\program files (x86)\microsoft directx sdk (june 2010)\include\d3dx9core.h(234) : see declaration of 'D3DXCreateSprite'

Here is my code.

[font="Consolas"][font="Consolas"]HRESULT D3DXCreateSprite(LPDIRECT3DDEVICE9 pDevice, LPD3DXSPRITE *ppSprite);

any help would be appreciated.

Huh? That's your entire code?

A redefinition means that you may have accidentally created two or more prototypes for a method/function. You may have two or more of that somewhere.

(Link to Wikipedia is provided when you click on the italicized "prototypes")

Oh yeah, one more possible solution. Don't put your function code in the header file.

if that really is your code, then yes the compiler says it all, you're attempting to redefine the function D3DXCreateSprite.
