Glsl and Planets

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've just started looking into shaders and have got bump mapping, per pixel lighting and texture mapping working.
I've textured a planet and was wondering where to go from here, I was wondering how difficult it would be and how I would go about making clouds that move around the planet.
I was thinking I could get a separate cloud texture and rotate it around the planet or I could maybe make it out of noise similar to this website -

eventually I would like to be able to swirl the clouds around an area I click on. If anyone knows any tutorials or where I would start would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I would do this entirely through distortion, and billboarding. Very little actual GLSL would be involved in that and its quite simple/fast to do
