Org is a competitive real-time-strategy game of exploration. It supports multiplayer and singleplayer with AI. You start on a continent with the other players and try to spread your network of roads and settlements across it, exploring new regions and grabbing up the resources before the other players do. how do you get population into the settlements ?
Build settlements on or next to fertile land so can they grow food.

Then build settlements by forest/hills/ore to get those resources to build more stuff.

Perhaps a picture tutorial would be a good idea.

The AI is massively overpowered- I played on tiny against 1 AI and it had 274 pop before I had 11. Maybe put a pause between AI actions. It looks like it could be really good fun but the AI ruins it (for me). A better tutorial would help to!

Good point about the AI especially when starting out. I've added an option for AI difficulty which controls how fast they play. Run the game again and it will update.

Also added a basic tutorial to get new players started. Of course there's a bunch more information on the website that's good after trying your first game.

Thanks!

one prob, when you start a big map the Mini Map takes up a lot of the screen space.
Big Map ( 400x400 )

smaller ( 80x80 )

could you make the minimap only grow to a maximum of X ?

what about adding Troops / Armies, even basic ones.

the game is fun .

That was a fast update, I'll be sure to test it out asap.

How about having Forts as an alternative to cities? Cities give more resources nearby, forts project influence along roads and out a bit into wilderness. Other players can't expand through influence without paying a lot more. Or something, your game. ^^

Really glad you're enjoying it. :)

The 400x400 map is indeed too big. You can close the minimap by clicking on the scroll, but yeah I suppose it ought to scale down. I never really play 400x400 because you often never end up seeing the other players. Perhaps I should remove it and if people want it they can mod it in.

Here are some earlier aspects of gameplay that I removed because they detracted from the real fun:

Starting as a single ship in the sea and sailing around to find a place to start your colony. This was cool but really isn't as fun, basically adds a boring delay at the start of the game.
Having pirate ships that come and raid your settlements. This got boring too after a little while.
Forts and warships are in the game just disabled, if they were enabled they just prevent other players from putting ships/roads next to the for/warship.
Because it already takes about 100% attention to build your normal stuff, adding moveable military forces takes away a lot of the fun I think. However, I do want to find some alternate ways of winning than just getting the most population, since that often depends on luck.

Either points could come from other things as well, like building a city gives X extra points, or there could be completely alternative victory conditions like "build X cities" that doesn't use population at all. Hmm.

If you guys are interested in trying multiplayer, I'd like to. I have MSN messenger (Garnier44@live.com) and a teamspeak server but could use pretty much any form of communication.

Have skype, my account is philip_mcgarvey.

Edit: Added MP chat (press enter in game). And made the minimap closed by default for huge maps.
